Cosmetic Dentures

Failure to treat missing teeth impairs oral and dental health. Each tooth is designed to complement another. When one tooth is lost, other teeth slide or bend towards the gap formed by the missing tooth. The tooth in the opposite jaw also extends into the cavity. These unusual tooth movements lead to extraordinary situations both in the tooth and in the gums. In addition, damage occurs to the gums and bone tissues.

Teeth begin to rot, as normal and natural dental contacts are impaired and thus physiological cleaning cannot be performed. Cosmetic Dentures are prostheses applied in partial tooth deficiencies or in excessive loss of substance in a single tooth. They complement the patient's teeth, which leads to impaired teeth, speech and aesthetic appearance. Such prostheses are applied to ensure that the patient has resistance to lift the chewing force and to be aesthetically similar to other dental structures.

What is Cosmetic Denture?

Aesthetic prosthesis; is a procedure performed by aesthetic physicians and the aim is to complete the missing teeth and to get a beautiful appearance by fixing the problems in the gums and harmonizing the patient's face. Cosmetic Dentures are performed because of the application of exaggerated forms that are far from natural and the gum problems are not resolved. Artificial teeth prepared with artificial materials instead of teeth or teeth lost due to various reasons are called Cosmetic Dentures.

Prosthetic Applications are made to compensate for the loss of teeth and bones in the patient when gum diseases cannot be cured or are delayed for treatment. Cosmetic Denture Treatment, which removes the possible losses of the patient aesthetically and functionally, can be applied with different methods depending on the application purpose and the patient's dental structure. Different treatment methods such as fixed prosthesis, movable prosthesis, total prosthesis, partial prosthesis, precision retaining prosthesis and over implant prosthesis are used.

How to use Cosmetic Dentures?

Movable prostheses should not be used 24 hours a day, however compatible and comfortable with the mouth. When used continuously, a rapid melting will occur in the jaw bones and then it will be difficult to use a different prosthesis. For this reason, Cosmetic Dentures should be removed at least 8 hours a day and must be protected in a container that filled with water or wrapped in a damp towel. Prostheses should never be kept in hot water.

The storage container should be kept out of the reach of children and pets. Removable prostheses can hurt gums, injure, pressure on natural teeth in the mouth, create pain and tenderness, feel strangeness, a bad taste in the mouth, saliva may increase. It is normal to have such complaints. In such cases, the patient should immediately contact the dentist. Patients who previously used prostheses can get used to it more difficult because it makes their new prosthesis feel different than before. In such cases, if they use their old prosthesis immediately, it will take longer to get used to their new prosthesis.

The patient should strive to get used to their new prosthesis. The patient himself should not attempt to make any corrections to his prostheses. Only the dentist can make corrections. The insertion and removal of the prostheses should be done with the help of fingers, without forcing the wires or sensitive holders, in the beginning of the mirror. Denture sticking cream or powders sold in pharmacies can help the patient use the prosthesis more comfortably by increasing the retention of the dentures.
