Dental care in Istanbul

Invisalign

Thinking about Invisalign in Istanbul?

If you would like straighter teeth but would prefer a removable option, Invisalign may be worth discussing with your dentist. The first step is to understand your bite, the health of your teeth and gums, and what you would like to change. Clear aligners suit some cases better than others, so the choice starts with an examination.

What are Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign is a brand of clear, custom-made aligners. You wear a series of trays that gradually move your teeth according to a treatment plan. They can be removed for meals and cleaning. Small tooth-coloured attachments, and sometimes elastics, may also be needed to help make particular movements.

Aligners can help with certain crowded teeth, gaps and bite problems. More complex cases may need a different approach or a combination of treatments. Photographs can help start a conversation, but they cannot replace a clinical assessment.

What happens before treatment starts?

Your dentist or orthodontist will examine your teeth and gums, discuss your medical and dental history, and take the records needed to plan treatment. These may include photographs, scans or impressions, and X-rays when clinically indicated. Any dental problems that need attention should be considered before tooth movement begins.

Ask to see the proposed plan and discuss its limits. A digital preview helps explain the intended movements; it is not a guarantee of the final result. You should understand the expected duration, review appointments, possible additional aligners and the total cost before deciding.

Living with your aligners

Invisalign generally recommends wearing aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. Follow the schedule given by your treating clinician, including when to move to the next set. Remove them for meals and drinks other than plain water, and follow the cleaning instructions you receive.

Some pressure or temporary discomfort can occur when you start a new tray, and your speech may take a little time to adjust. If a tray is damaged, does not fit, or causes persistent pain, contact your treating clinician. Regular checks help confirm that your teeth are moving as planned.

How long does treatment take, and what does it cost?

There is no single timetable or price that fits everyone. The movements required, the number of aligners and how consistently you wear them all matter. Ask for a written estimate that explains whether reviews, attachments, additional aligners and retainers are included.

After the active treatment, retainers help keep your teeth in their new positions. Your clinician will explain how to wear and care for them. Teeth can move again if the retention plan is not followed.

Planning treatment from another country

If you are travelling to Istanbul, arrange the follow-up plan before booking flights. Aligner treatment continues beyond a short visit. Discuss how often you will need to return, who will monitor your progress, and who to contact if you have a problem after going home. Ask which appointments require an examination in person and whether any remote reviews are appropriate for your case.
