Tooth Whitening is a cosmetic solution, offered to people who are not satisfied with the color of their teeth. It's an oxygenation method that is used to bleach the teeth, that have changed color because of various reasons, or to lighten the personal color of the teeth a few shades.

The next step is rinsing the teeth after attaining optimum shade or lapse of the maximum period. The dentist may apply fluoride to ease tooth sensitivity

Follow up sessions are scheduled until you attain the desired shade. The dentist may suggest home whitening trays for continued treatment and a complete whitening process.

A personal whitening tray is prepared after oral measurement is taken. Certain amount of tooth whitening gel (10-15% carbamide peroxide) is applied in this special tray. Treatment, during which the tray is worn for at least 4-6 hours per day, approximately takes 10-15 days.
In-Office whitening is a better choice in terms of time, duration and efficacy. Whiteners are much stronger and can penetrate deeper layers of the tooth so the result will be longer and better. It takes 1-2 hours at a dentist’s office.
At-home whitening takes 1-2 hours per day over a series of days and weeks and the result will be less effective. However, it will cost less than the professional teeth whitening.

The white color starts to disappear after whitening. It depends on the patient’s consumption of colored beverages (coffee, tea, red wine and coke) and tobacco. It lasts 6 months – 1 year. It can be supported with 1 or 2 sessions once every 4-6 months.
Experiencing a mild to moderate pain after the procedure is a quite common side effect. Tooth sensitivity may occur due to the ingredients in whitening products. However, it is normal and you shouldn’t be concerned if you are experiencing this. The pain will diminish and disappear completely. If it persists for several days you can consult your dentist.
